Innovation is the engine that drives our organization. Through innovative treatments, improvements to existing care, and disease prevention- we heal today-plan for tomorrow. UMC Utrecht offers high quality academic programs to medical students, (bio) medical researchers, doctors, and nurses. Our educational curriculums strive to develop and share knowledge with the care providers and researchers of the future, supporting, building, and challenging the talent of tomorrow.
The three pillars of health care, research, and education are embedded in our mission:
UMC Utrecht is a leading international university medical center generating, testing, sharing, and applying knowledge on health, illness, and health care for the benefit of patients and society.
This is a challenging mission. Society is changing in many fields and medical care is under a magnifying glass. The birth rate is falling, the number of elderly is increasing, and diseases are becoming increasingly complex. Saving initiatives and other funding schemes are required to keep medical care affordable so that individuals can maintain their independence throughout the aging process.
UMC Utrecht anticipates these changes, regionally, nationally, and internationally. We are ready to care for the future with a solid foundation. We are working with our partners in innovation at, for example, Utrecht University (UU), Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), and Philips to maintain our competitive and academic edge. Together we are sharing our knowledge and progress to enhance the research and development of new diagnostic and treatment methods.
