Mattresses against decubitus

Anti-decubitus mattresses decrease the development of pressure ulcers in surgical patients. So says Paul Keller in his PhD-thesis. The special mattresses reduce the skin pressure patients experience when lying in bed.

Keller also found that high skin pressure during an operation is an essential factor in the later development of pressure ulcers.
