Better circulation with nitric oxide

In her doctoral thesis, Lonneke Bevers concludes that using BH4 to treat poorly functioning blood vessels can lead to improved circulation.

BH4 is a cofactor (a “helper” substance) of eNOS, which manufactures nitric oxide. Nitric oxide is an important neurotransmitter that uses endothelial cells among others to signal smooth muscle cells to relax, which causes the blood vessels to dilate. She believes it is possible to increase the production of nitric oxide by using gene therapy to add an eNOS gene to endothelial cells.
