Social inactivity after stroke

Patients at risk of becoming socially inactive after a stroke can be identified at the start of rehabilitation. In her doctoral thesis, Vera Schepers describes a simple predictive formula for identifying such people. Fatigue becomes an increasing problem in the first year following a stroke. This is related to depression, advanced age, female gender, and an external locus of control.

Vera Schepers received her PhD from Utrecht University on December 14. The title of her thesis is, “Clinimetrics & determinants of outcome after stroke.”
