On 10 September 2008, Philips and UMC Utrecht signed a declaration of intent to broaden collaboration, focusing on research projects in the areas of brain disease, cancer, cardiovascular disease, muscle and bone disease and lung disease, in which image-led oncological interventions and imaging technology play a pivotal role. Philips Healthcare will supply medical equipment and software to researchers at UMC Utrecht.
This declaration reflects UMC Utrecht's focus on innovation and on bridging fundamental scientific research and patient care. Around 50 Philips researchers will be closely collaborating with researchers at UMC Utrecht.
UMC Utrecht and Philips have a long history of collaboration and have developed groundbreaking medical technologies for a broad range of applications in radiology, cardiology, neurology and oncology. This has resulted in many successful innovations in body scanning technologies.
This declaration of intent will renew and strengthen our collaboration with Philips.
