The University Medical Center of Utrecht is the result of the merger of the former Academic Hospital of Utrecht and the Faculty of Medicine of Utrecht University. This has resulted in a broad-based, intensive partnership in education, clinical and biomedical research and patient care.
The Faculty of Medicine is responsible for education in medicine and biomedical sciences, and fundamental medical and biomedical research. Execution and organization lies with UMC Utrecht. The UMC Utrecht’s education and research is closely tied to research projects of other UU faculties, such as the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. UMC Utrecht collaborates with these faculties in the Academic Biomedical Cluster (ABC) and the Graduate School of Life Sciences.
