The seven research programs of the UMC Utrecht participate in six focus areas of the Utrecht University:
- Neurosciences and Biomedical Image Sciences contribute to focus area Brain, Cognition and Behavior.
- Biomedical Image Sciences participates in the focus area Life Sciences and Biocomplexity: from Molecules to Organisms.
- Immunology and Infectious Diseases is part of focus area Infection and Immunity.
- Cardiovascular sciences is leading the focus area Cardiovascular research.
- Oncology and Biomedical Genetics, together with the research programs Biology of Reproductive
- Cells and Tissue Repair, both run by the Veterinary faculty, participate in the focus area Growth and Differentiation; the Regenerative Medicine research projects also participate in this focus area.
- Clinical Epidemiology is one of the key players of the focus area Epidemiology
The UMC Utrecht coordinates the focus areas Cardiovascular Research and Epidemiology and aims to build strong research clusters in these areas.
