

These two government institutions do extensive research in the area of public health, vaccines, nutrition, calamities and the environment. The NVI is one of the few existing institutions commissioned by the government to create vaccines for use nationally. The NIPHE (in Dutch: RIVM) carries out research, but also collects and applies knowledge globally, publishing a great number of advisory and other reports annually. The results are used by policy-makers, watchdog agencies, but also for the creation, adaptation and implementation of legislation.
