On the website of the Utrecht University, (prospective) PhD students can find information on practical matters relating to PhD positions at Utrecht University.
Details can be found about the university and the Graduate School of Life Sciences, but also about vacancies, costs, visa and residence permits, PhD grants and scholarships, FAQ, etc.

Time Schedules
In the PhD program, their are several deadlines. Deadlines that are related to the registration, are mentioned in table 1; a complete and more detailled overview is inserted below.

Doctoral Degree Regulations

    Certificate GS-LS
    Each PhD student who has successfully completed a PhD programme within the Graduate School of Life Sciences is eligible for the Graduate School certificate. Applications must be made at least 2 weeks before the defence of the thesis by using the form which is downloadable here:

    Distribution of the final PhD Compensation
    In case a PhD student works for 2 or more divisions during his PhD track, financial agreements about the final PhD compensation between the divisions concerned have to be made. Please download the necessary form here.

    PhD Council
    The PhD Council represents all PhD students within the Utrecht Graduate School of Life Sciences and aims to improve the quality of PhD education and training in the school. To this end, each Research Institute or Research School delegates 1 representative to the PhD Council and 3 members of the Council have a seat on the Board of Studies (BoS).   • In case of conflict...
    In case of a unconsolvable conflict with your supervisor, the first person to go to is the coordinator of your PhD program. The coordinator is allways the first to contact in case of any problem or conflict.
    When the coordinator is not able to mediate between you and your supervisor, the chair of the PhD program will be contacted and asked to intervene.
    In case of severe conflicts where mediation of both the coodinator and the chairman of the PhD program didn't resolve the problem, please contact the Research Office of the UMC Utrecht: onderzoeksbureau@umcutrecht.nl .
