By means of the Patient Tracking System (PTS) the authority and the GHOR (Medical Help during Accidents and Disasters)-chain is able to provide early information during a mass casualty incident about the number of victims, their identity, current residence and the global seriousness of their injury. This system arises by joining the Internet Registration and Information System (I-RIS), that is used within the municipal CRIB (Central Registration and Information Agency) registration process and the Utrecht Trauma Information System (UTIS) and the barcode system of the Major Incident Hospital to identify the victims unique. By using the heavy secured infrastructure of the province Utrecht, the so called MultiTeam network, the availability of the mentioned systems are assured during a mass casualty incident. This project also allows for the extension in 2005 of the digital care file of the RAVU (Regional Ambulance Provision Utrecht).
