Welcome to the website of the Patient Safety Center of the University Medical Center (UMC) Utrecht.

In 2003, UMC Utrecht chose patient safety as a main focus for quality improvement. During the Patient Safety Project that ran between 2003 and 2006, we accumulated knowledge of and experience with various ways of improving patient safety.
The Patient Safety Center was established at the end of 2006.The goal of the center is to embed the continuous improvement of patient safety in the daily routine throughout the organization, and to use scientific research to measure the effects of this process.

At the UMC Utrecht Patient Safety Center, we inspire healthcare professionals to improve patient safety by generating and sharing knowledge.

We had not been able to come this far without the support of so many who have generously shared their knowledge and experiences with us. With this website, we hope to benefit and inspire others on their road to patient safety.
