Senior Research Scientist - Serious Gaming

Pamela M. Kato is a health psychologist. She has a masters in counseling and consulting psychology and a Ph.D. in psychology. Before joining the UMC Utrecht as a senior research scientist, she was the founding president and CEO of HopeLab and clinical instructor in Pediatrics at Stanford Hospital in the United States. At the UMC Utrecht Patient Safety Center, Kato is currently working on developing and testing a clinically validated serious game to train medical residents in patient safety.

Her article, in Pediatrics, decribes her research on Re-Mission and the positive effect that this game has had on children with cancer. (Kato PM, Cole SW, Bradlyn AS, Pollock BH.
