Title research
Functioning of patients with chronic inflammatoir and idiopathic polyneuropathies
Summary research The aim of the study was to assess the functioning of patients with chronic inflammatoir (chronic inflammatior demyelinating polyneuropathy [CIDP] and multifocal motor neuropathy [MMN]) and idiopathic (chronic idiopathic axonal polyneuropathy [CIAP]) polyneuropathies, with use of the ICF. Descriptive analysis and associations between body functions (e.g muscle strength, sensory function, pain, fatigue, and balance) activity scores (e.g. walking ability and dexterity) and participation (autonomy) were carried out. More specific, the occurrence and nature of neuropathic pain and non-neuropathic pain in patients with CIAP was assessed, as well as the associations between pain and QoL. Finally, a new walking test for patients with inflammatory and idiopathic polyneuropathies was introduced. Ecological validity, concurrent validity and reliability were estimated in patients with MMN and CIAP.
