Title research Neural correlates of cognitive subtypes in Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
Summary research I’m interested in how cognitive functions, such as attention, develop as the brain matures during childhood and adolescence.
In my PhD research I aim to investigate the neurobiological basis of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Specifically, I’m interested whether within the group of children with the clinical diagnosis ADHD, different neurobiological subtypes can be distinguished.
I aim to address this question by looking at both
• Behavioural performance on a range of neuropsychological tests,
• Neural activation patterns (as measured with fMRI) whilst doing a task (measured in subgroups based on behavioural performance)
• The potential influence of ADHD candidate-genes on neural activation patterns in these neuropsychological subtypes
