Neuroscience & Cognition of Utrecht University teaches young scientists the fundamental principles of neuroscience and trains them to perform neuroscience research in a multidisciplinary team. Students may choose, at the application, between two tracks within the program: Experimental and Clinical Neuroscience and Cognitive Neuroscience. Annually, up to 50 students are admitted after careful selection, based on past performance and motivation.
The research field of the neurosciences investigates the organization and function of the nervous system in its entirety. This breadth is catered for by involvement of four faculties (Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities).
Researchers involved in education to a large extent belong to three large research institutes: The Rudolf Magnus Institute of Neuroscience, the
Helmholtz Institute and the
Utrecht Institute of Linguistics. This comprehensive collaboration is unique, and guarantees the highest quality of the program.
Over the past years, graduates have been highly successful in pursuing a scientific career: 95% of our students has secured a PhD position even before graduating.
