The NIBI (Dutch Institute for Biology) is the professional association for biologists, which is nowadays aiming at the biomedical field as well. The NIBI assists in employment-finding, aims to improve the contact between science and society, and to improve education in biology. In addition, the NIBI also publishes a magazine called Bionieuws (translated: Bionews), which is a journal for (medical) biologists. Bionieuws is issued every two weeks and contains news, photos, illustrations, interviews, opinions and background information, both national and international. Bionieuws only is available in Dutch.
The master’s studies Biomedical Sciences believes that Bionieuws can contribute to your development of a wide knowledge. Therefore, Bionieuws will be distributed without costs to all master’s students (and 3rd-year bachelor’s students). This makes you automatically a member of the NIBI and you will be able to use available services.
Every academic year from January on, Bionieuws will be delivered by post to all master's students (at your address as it is known in Osiris). On the cover of Bionieuws you can find your registration number to log in at the NIBI website (
