UMC Utrecht aims to be an internationally leading university medical center, where knowledge about health, disease, and healthcare is generated, tested, shared and applied.
The Wilhelmina Children's Hospital is an intregal children's hospital within the University Medical Center Utrecht dedicated to providing excellent health care to severely diseased children or adolescents. The care for diseased children has undergone tremendous changes in recent years, in which innovation of health care has a central role. Although our main goal is the treatment of severely diseased children, the scientific expertise also focusses on prevention of complications occurring during the treatment of the disease.
Identifying and treatment of complications in diseased children, but also of frequently occurring health problems, places the Wilhelmina Children's Hospital right in the center of the society. The strength of the care for diseased children in Wilhelmina Children's Hospital is that on the one hand focus is applied to research, and on the other hand the focus relates to problems in the care of diseased children and to health problems that are a threat to the society.
The Child Development and Exercise Center is among the leading departments of pediatric physical therapy, pediatric occupational therapy and pediatric exercise physiology of the western world.
