Aim of the Mini Donor Service (MDS) is the collection of blood from healthy volunteers to support scientific research and laboratory diagnosis in the UMC Utrecht.
Donors are volunteers who by means of a written declaration have indicated their willingness to donate small quantities of blood (100 mL maximum) four times a year without being reimbursed by financial or other means. Donors of Sanquin bloodbanks donate twice a year. The group of donors consists of employees of the UMC Utrecht, the Faculty of Medicine Utrecht University, students and nurses who are following an internship at the UMC Utrecht.
Donor blood from healthy persons is the basis of a wide range of scientific research projects to better understand the origin of diseases and to improve treatment. The blood is also vital for developing new laboratory tests and the determination of reference (“normal”) values with which patient blood is compared.
That is why the Mini Donor Service asks you to register as a donor. We really need your help!
