Progenitor cell
The last couple of years a cardiac progenitor cell has been discovered that is capable of differentiating into a cardiomyocyt. Under supervision of prof P Doevendans research is executed to study the role of these cardial progenitor cells in repair after myocardial ischemia. This research is executed in collaboration with Dr MJ Goumans at the LUMC. Local project leader is Dr Joost Sluijter.
Stem cells
In
collaboration with the Singapore Genomics Institute the effect of conditioned medium obtained from cultured mesenchymal stem cells is studied. The conditioned medium is an off the shelf therapy with strong benefical effects in the large animal studies.
