Internships

Students can participate in ongoing genetic research projects and will be supervised by a PhD student or post-doc. Our goal is to give students projects in which they can work independently and we encourage them to develop their own strategies. Projects may lead to the publication of a paper in a peer-reviewed journal, in which case the student will be named as a co-author.

Students are expected to participate in work meetings and journal clubs to get a broader view of the research field and at the end of their internship they must give a presentation on their work in English.

Techniques
In our lab we offer the full spectrum of techniques commonly used in molecular biology:
- DNA/RNA/protein isolation
- PCR, RT-PCR, qPCR
- next-generation sequencing (NGS)
- several SNP detection systems (Taqman and Illumina Beadstation)

Bioinformatics
Internships can consist of lab work, but as informatics, bioinformatics and statistics are becoming an evermore important part of genetic research, students with affinity for informatics, bioinformatics or statistics are very welcome to apply for a position.
