Genomics Centre Utrecht The clustering of research groups in genomics led to the formation of the Genomics Centre Utrecht (GCU), a research facility and centre of excellence of the Academic Biomedical Center (Utrecht University) and the UMC Utrecht. The center is located in Stratenum; it provides facilities for the genome-wide analysis of genes and their functions and promotes research in the field of genomics, with an emphasis on cancer genomics and neurogenomics.
The
Hubrecht Institute is a research institute of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) and performs research in the field of developmental biology and stem cell research.
Cancer Genomics & Developmental Biology (CGDB)This research school is part of the Utrecht Graduate School of Life Sciences and combines about 45 research groups from Utrecht University, the University Medical Centre Utrecht and the Hubrecht Institute for Developmental Biology and Stem Cell Research. The school offers MSc and PhD programmes.
Academic Biomedical Centre (ABC). Utrecht University has brought all its education and research programmes in the biomedical and life sciences together under the Academic Biomedical Centre (ABC). The foundation of the ABC has proved to be an excellent idea, because good progress has been made over the last five years with, for instance, more interdisciplinary research collaboration, a broad choice of ABC MSc courses, special expertise centres, and biobusiness support.
The
Centre for Biomedical Genetics (CBG) is a consortium of 17 research groups in the life sciences, the largest combination in the Netherlands. The group leaders were selected from six research institutes associated with four universities (Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Leiden and Utrecht), based on the quality of their research and commitment to the theme. The participants combine a wide range of expertise that includes genetics, molecular and cell biology, biochemistry and structural biology.
Graduate School of Life Sciences, Utrecht University. All Utrecht's MSc and PhD programmes that focus on micro-organisms, plants, animals, humans, the molecules of life, and the study of health and disease, are organised by the Graduate School of Life Sciences, UU. The school combines training and education for MSc and PhD students, thus incorporating theory and practice at both levels and allowing overall quality control and consistency.
The
Julius Centre for Health Sciences and Primary Care is part of the University Medical Center Utrecht. It carries out scientific research, provides education, and offers expertise and facilities in the area of clinical health sciences. The Julius Centre and the Complex Genetics Section collaborate on various projects.
