Jackie Senior, science editor, will be leaving the department and concentrating on her work in UMCG, Groningen. She has worked with the research section since it was set up in 1995 by Prof. Peter Pearson and moved into the Dept. of Medical Genetics in 1999, when the research section joined with the KGCU in a new department in the WKZ.

Dr. Victorien Wolters, M.D., graduated with her PhD thesis entitled "Diagnostics and genetics of coeliac disease". This was a joint project between the departments of medical genetics and paediatric geastroenterology. Supervisors Prof. C. Wijmenga, Prof. J.L.L. Kimpen and Dr. R.H.J. Houwen. Copies can be requested from the secretariat.

Dr. Sasha Zhernakova will spend October working with Dr. Robert Plenge of Harvard Medical School/Broad Institute, Boston.
Simone de Jong will spend a few weeks working at UCLA.

Kristel van Eijk has started as a PhD student under Prof. Roel Ophoff, working on the analysis of methylation data in schizophrenia.
Dave Zeegers, HLO student Bioinformatics, has started a 5-month work placement under Simone de Jong, MSc (1 Sept. 2009 – 1 Feb. 2010).

Magdalena Harakalova (PhD student) have started work under Prof. Edwin Cuppen.
The section has temporarily
moved to offices on the 4th floor in Stratenum (4.112 and along the corridor). Later in the year we will move to offices next to the
