Dr Stephan Persengiev is a molecular biologist in the Research Section of the Dept. of Medical Genetics. He joined the group after working at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and on the Programs of Gene Expression and Molecular Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School where he was an assistant professor.
His primary research interests are in the field of transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulation of apoptosis. His current research is focused on autoimmune disease pathogenesis, with an emphasis on type 1 diabetes.
