We encourage all students to study or conduct research abroad. In addition to enhancing your academic curriculum, you will develop skills that a classroom setting cannot provide. You may experience new cultures; gain fresh perspectives; build long-lasting relationships; develop fluency in a foreign language. It demonstrates that you are resourceful, independent, adventurous and open to possibilities, all qualities that are considered valuable to future employers. In addition, going abroad for your studies or research will enable you to gain first-hand experience in an international setting and help build your international network.

The International Office, UMC Utrecht has agreements with a number of institutions. The exact arrangements are different for each agreement, therefore students are advised to check
contract institutions. For most study programmes students are also allowed to make individual arrangements for studying abroad. In all cases formal approval of your study abroad plans, by your programme, is required. Without this approval you are not allowed to go abroad.
