The Department of Pathology of
University Medical Center Utrecht houses some 140 people, including students and temporary employees.
Main tasks of the Department

To this end, we have all modern infrastructure including molecular pathology, quantitative pathology and electron microscopy. The diagnostic volume of the Department is among that of the biggest academic departments in The Netherlands.
- Research: We do research with a largely translational character based on a solid foundation of more basic research, facilitate the translational research of other departments, and play a major role in the running of the UMC Utrecht Biobank.
- Education: Lastly, we teach medical and biomedical students, technicians, and residents in pathology.
