Department of Pathology Immunology and Infectious Diseases Research
Immunology and Infectious Diseases Research research in the Department of Pathology is imbedded both in the UMC Utrecht Immunology and Infectious Diseases Research program and the Division's program. Especially the translation of fundamental research into clinical development is focussed upon.
UMC Utrecht Immunology and Infectious Diseases Research
The mission of the Immunology and Infectious Diseases research program is to understand the interactions between pathogens and human hosts.
A strong focus is on immune pathology and chronic inflammation associated with autoimmune disease, allergy and clinical complications of allogeneic stem cell transplantation. In all these research lines state of the art molecular and analytical techniques are utilised to stay in the international front lines of our field.
Division of Laboratories and Pharmacy's Immunology and Infectious Diseases Research
Five Main lines of research can be distinguished
- Epidemiology & mulstidrug resistance (viruses & bacteria)
- Pathogenesis & vaccines (virulence, immune evasion, immunity)
- Immune regulation (Ag presentation, lymphocyte dynamics & signal transduction)
- Immune disorders (allergy/ chron inflammation / auto-immunity)
- Immune therapy/ transplantation
- Regenerative Medicine
