Bob van den Bergen studied Applied Physics at the University of Twente and graduated in November 2004. His thesis work was done in the group of Optical Techniques on the subject of Surface Plasmon Polariton manipulation. He started in 2005 at the Radiotherapy Department of the UMC Utrecht as a PhD student and is currently working on a hybrid MRI - hyperthremia applicator, which will allow feedback control of the hyperthermia treatment by mapping the temperature inside the patient.
