After medical study she received her MD from the same University in 1989 and completed her PhD in 1990. Since then she has been working at the University Medical Centre Utrecht, department of radiotherapy. She finished her residency in radiation-oncology in 1998 and since then she is staff clinician in Utrecht. Her topics are gynaecologic oncology and brachytherapy, with special interest for MRI guidance and applicator development. She is member of the GEC ESTRO working group for 3D MRI guided brachytherapy for gynaecological cancer.
