c.a.t.vandenberg[at]umcutrecht.nlNico van den Berg graduated in Applied Physics at the University of Twente in 2000. He performed his thesis work in the Applied Optics group working on Fluorescence Lifetime Microscopy. After his study, he started working at Oce Technologies performing research into the dynamics of magnetic toner particles. In 2002, he began as a PhD student at the Radiotherapy department of the University Medical Centre Utrecht working on thermal and electromagnetic aspects of regional hyperthermia and high field MRI. In September 2006 he received his PhD degree for his thesis "Radiofrequency fields in hyperthermia and MRI". Starting from October 2006, he is working as a post-doc at the radiotherapy department. His research interests are the exploration of new RF excitation/detection techniques for high field MRI and the development of functional MR imaging techniques for oncology purposes.
