DECS trial completes patient recruitment
On the 23th of November, 2011 the last patient was recruited for the DExamethasone for Cardiac Surgery trial (DECS). A total of 4500 patients have been recruited successfully over the last 4 years. The next phase is to analyse all the collected data of this double-blinded, randomized controlled trial. Click here to read more about the DECS trial.

IARS Research Grant Wilton A. van Klei, MD, PhD 
Wilton van KleiWilton A. van Klei, MD, PhD received an $80,000 research grant from the International Anesthesia Research Society (IARS) for his project “Effect of routine postoperative troponin measurements on one year cardiac events and death”.
The grant is part of the IARS’ 2011 Clinical Scholar Research Awards.

Irene now has a postdoctoral position in our department of Intensive Care Medicine.
