This project is designed to evaluate different strategies to reduce blood loss and transfusion of blood products in cardiac surgery procedures. One part of this project concerns the validation of “point of care” monitoring during cardiac surgery. Another part of this project aims to asses the effects of selectively used procoagulant and antifibrinolytic medication in cardiac surgery in relation to blood loss and transfusion of blood products.
