About Hannie Megens is a pediatric and obstetric anesthetist and involved in de pediatric pain group. Her research focuses on perioperative pediatric pain management and bloodmanagement in pediatric and obstetric surgery.
She is currently working on a clinical observational study titled ‘Evaluation of perioperative anaemia and transfusion requirements in paediatric patients undergoing major surgery’.
The primary aim of this study is to determine the prevalence of preoperative anaemia in paediatric patients presenting for elective major orthopaedic surgery.
The secondary aim is to measure transfusion requirements and investigate factors associated with perioperative blood transfusion in paediatric patients presenting for elective major orthopaedic and reconstructive surgery.
