About
Judy Veldhuijzen received her MSc degree in Psychology with specialisations Biopsychology and Neuropsychology in 2000 at the Utrecht University. She then joined the department of Psychopharmacology, faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences in Utrecht and performed research studies for her PhD. The main research focus was on the effect of pain on attention as examined with EEG brain correlates and on actual on-the-road driving performance. She received her PhD in 2005 after which she joined the lab of Professor Joel Greenspan at the University of Maryland in Baltimore as a Postdoc. She worked in his lab for 2 years in close collaboration with Dr Frederick Lenz at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. Main topics of research were central pain, pain & attention, and sex effects in pain. She came back to the Netherlands in 2007 and started to work as a Postdoc at first, and now as an Assistant Professor at the Pain Clinic, Department of Anesthesiology, Rudolf Magnus Institute of Neurosciences, University Medical Center Utrecht.

Interest and focus
Her main research interest is to identify pathophysiological mechanisms of pain. Her specific research focus is on psychophysical pain studies, pain and cognition (attention), and representation of pain in the brain.
