Jurgen de Graaff is involved in clinical and preclinical research that aims to improve perioperative care in adults and children.
His preclinical research focuses on the treatment of pulmonary hypertension by iloprost. This evaluation is performed in an experimental setup in healthy volunteers at hypobaric circumstances at the Center for Man and Aviation in Soesterberg.
The improvement of perioperative care focuses on the efficacy of preoperative laboratory and clinical evaluation. Hereto Jurgen uses retrospective and prospective pre- and intraoperative databases. Some examples are the evaluation medication adherence in the perioperative phase and the evaluation of the necessity of performing a preoperative ECG.
The improvement of perioperative care in children focuses on the use, risk, complications and success rate locoregional techniques and pain management.
