Physics of X-ray and Nuclear Imaging

The medical physics group supports introduction, safety aspects and clinical and scientific use of X-ray and Nuclear imaging modalities including CT, 2D Radiography, PET and SPECT. The central theme is the use of ionizing radiation for imaging, that requires knowledge of photon physics, photon detection methods and radiation protection. The group works on reconstruction methods (software algorithms) for PET, SPECT and CT and develops methods for improvement of image quality, quantification and radiation dose reduction.
