International partners
We have a standing collaboration with three international partners. With these partners we participate in EU grant applications and we encourage exchanges at all levels from professor to master students.

Institute of psychiatry, psychology & neurology (IOPPN)
IOPPN researchers have a focus on psychiatry and mental health and interest in psychology and neuroscience. An official international collaborative link was established in 2006 with the Institute of Psychiatry (IoP) / King’s College London, and financially supported by the UMC Utrecht Internationalization Fund. The funds have allowed us to organize several joined workshops, and to cover working visits by Master’s students, PhD students and scientific staff.
There is a strong link between our researchers in the expertise area of schizophrenia, but also in more fundamental research on developmental disorders researchers from both institutes are working together. The collaboration has resulted in many joined publications and successful applications at the Welcome Trust and EU funding programs. At the institutional level, we collaborate in several areas of research.
Edinburgh Neuroscience uitklapper, klik om te openen
Edinburgh Neuroscience is an umbrella organization at the University of Edinburgh, representing excellent research groups over the entire width of neuroscience. Their mission is strongly oriented towards translational neuroscience, i.e. from bed to bench and from bench to bed, which overlaps with our research strategy. The collaboration started already in 2011 and has been supported by the UMC Utrecht with an internationalization grant. The funds have allowed us to organize several joined workshops, and to cover working visits by Master’s students, PhD students and scientific staff.
At the institutional level, we collaborate in several areas of research. There is a strong link between our researchers in the expertise area of Stroke and the Stroke unit of Edinburgh. Also in the field of ALS, schizophrenia, but also in more fundamental research on developmental disorders, stress and the use of induced pluripotent stem cells researchers from both institutes are working together. Furthermore there is a strong link at the PhD educational level with PhD students of both institutes participating in each other’s main courses.
