Electric property mapping

Electrical Properties Tomography (EPT) is a relative new method to map the dielectric properties (electrical conductivity and permittivity) of tissue at the Larmor frequency (e.g. 300 MHz for 7T scans). The reconstruction is based on mapping of the RF magnetic field amplitude and phase. The EPT theory and MR methodology was partly developed at the UMC Utrecht. This technique can be used at 7T, but is also applicable at lower field strengths. An example of an electrical conductivity map along with a standard diagnostic MR image is given in Figure 1.
