No referral yet

For (non-emergency) hospital care, you always need a valid referral. On this page you can find more information on how to get a referral.

GP referral

You will receive a referral in consultation with your family doctor or general practitioner (GP). The family doctor will send (digitally) the referral letter for you to the appropriate specialty at UMC Utrecht. As soon as the referrer has sent it, UMC Utrecht will contact you to make an appointment. This may take some time.

Referral via another care provider

Are you referred from another hospital or healthcare provider? Then they can send the referral (digitally) to the appropriate specialty at UMC Utrecht. As soon as the referrer has sent it, UMC Utrecht will contact you to make an appointment. This may take some time.

Emergency referral

The Emergency Department (ED) of the UMC Utrecht serves adults and children who need emergency medical care. The department is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You can be referred by your family doctor, or you can come to the emergency room on your own with an acute medical problem.
