RF safety of MRI is aimed at preventing tissue damage through heating by RF pulses. In international regulations, the amount of energy that is absorbed by the patients is limited to ensure patient safety. The absorbed energy is quantified by the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR [W/kg] = s|E|2/ (2?) ), which depends on the tissue’s electrical conductivity s and density ?, together with the total electric field E.
