Travelling wave

At ultra high magnetic fields (7 Tesla and higher) the size of an MRI scanner's bore and operating RF frequency permit an electro-magnetic wave propagation along the longitudinal axis of the bore. This wave is called travelling wave and the cavity of the scanner acts as a waveguide (Figure on the right).
