Emergency department (ED)
The Emergency Department (ED) at UMC Utrecht serves adults and children who need emergency medical care. The department is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You may be referred by your family doctor or general practice center, the ambulance nurse, the X-ray department or your medical specialist.
Emergency dentist
Emergency dental care is not available at UMC Utrecht. For that, you must contact the Dental Emergency Service in Utrecht or the surrounding area directly.

- Drive to UMC Utrecht. There, follow the yellow traffic signs 'Spoed / Emergency' to the back of the building. The emergency room has its own parking lot for patients.
- You can also reach the emergency room through the main entrance of UMC Utrecht. If you enter through the main entrance, follow the signs to the emergency room: a green square with a white cross.
- There is no emergency room at the WKZ. Both children and adults are welcome at the emergency room at the UMC Utrecht location.

The emergency department employs a variety of staff, including medical specialists, doctors in training to become specialists (aios), co-assistants, nurses, physician assistants and secretaries.
