Michiel L. Bots
There can be much written about my story in life. In short, focusing on my career: My focus was on the development of carotid intima-media thickness measurements as an alternative for cardiovascular events in observational studies and trials. It took up to 2020, before the final piece of that puzzle was published in Circulation.
My drive comes from studies aimed at improvement of clinical care for the patients coming either to the hospital or to primary care. Irrespective whether these are diagnostic studies into prediction rules to predict presence of disease, or prognostic studies aimed at prediction of the occurrence of a certain disease, or intervention studies (i.e., trials) into treatment of conditions to sort out the best treatment for the individual patient.
