Feb 15: Two I&I researchers join UMC Utrecht Young Academy
This year Kim Romijnders and Theo van den Broek, both researchers within the Infection & Immunity Strategic Program, have joined the UMC Utrecht Young Academy. The Young Academy advocates on behalf of early to mid-stage investigators and aims to foster an inspiring and (inter)nationally competitive research environment at the UMC Utrecht. Here excellent fundamental and translational research can be performed.
The Young Academy aims to empower talented researchers by forming a bridging layer between the scientific work force and UMC Utrecht management; between basic and clinical researchers at the Utrecht Science Park; as well as between UMC Utrecht research and society. The Young Academy welcomes its new members from I&I Strategic Program and looks forward to work for and with them!
Kim Romijnders works as a health behavior researcher at the Julius Center for Health Sciences and Primary Care. By using qualitative and survey research, Kim focusses on the patient perspective in relation to infectious diseases. She aims to make an impact that matters with her research by placing the opinions, perspective, and experience of patients at the forefront of healthcare and scientific research.
Theo van den Broek is trained as a medical specialist (medical microbiology) and immunologist (Center for Translational Immunology), and a translational researcher at heart with specific interest in the development and regulation of early life immunity at the interface of infection & immunity that have potential clinical impact. In the last years he has been actively involved in the support of career development and training of early career researchers at UMC Utrecht.
Next year young investigators can self-nominate again for a position in the UMC Utrecht Young Academy. Keep an eye on their website where also activities will be announced.
