Frank Coenjaerts awarded with Hymans-van den Berg Education Prize

This year's Hymans-van den Berg Education Prize has been awarded to Frank Coenjaerts. Education is one of the three core tasks of UMC Utrecht and this prestigious prize makes it clear that Frank does this exceptionally well. This token of recognition reflects on the entire Department of Medical Microbiology.
Since 2017, the Harmen Tiddens Society for Dedicated Educators has awarded the Hijmans van den Bergh Education Prize to experienced educators who excel in one of the areas of teaching; individual student supervision; educational development; assessment or educational management. According to the jury report, Frank is praised by colleagues and students. He is widely involved in education in various roles, works on continuous quality improvement and increasingly tries to set up his education in an interdisciplinary way. His teaching is characterized by genuine attention to students, content expertise and the creation of good conditions that make learning possible.
Hymans-van den Berg Education Prize
The Hymans-van den Berg Education Prize is awarded to candidates who have shown exceptional merit in the education of one of the programs within UMC Utrecht. This prize and the Hijmans van den Bergh building are named after the Utrecht professor of internal medicine who was always praised by his students for his didactic gifts. The prize consists of a certificate, a lasting memento and an honorary mention. If the candidate is not yet a member of the Harmen Tiddens Society, he or she will also be admitted as a Distinguished Educator member on the basis of the award.
