Prof Dr Arno Hoes has been dean and vice-chairman of the board of directors of UMC Utrecht since 1 June 2019. He is Professor of Clinical Epidemiology in General Practice at Utrecht University and was, until his appointment, as dean, division chair of the Julius Center for Health Sciences and Primary Care at UMC Utrecht. His research and teaching activities mainly focused on the (early) diagnosis, therapy and prognosis of cardiovascular diseases and on the methods of clinical research. He has extensive experience in managing (inter) national scientific societies and was involved in the development of many (inter) national clinical guidelines. Recently, he was one of the co-founders of U-TRIAL (part of the UMC Utrecht strategy to conduct more clinical trials that will improve daily practice) and of The Healthcare Innovation Center (THINC.), Which aims to innovate healthcare. as quickly as possible and to evaluate.
