Group Slooter

‘Brain at Risk’ is one of the research programs of the Division Anesthesiology, Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine of UMC Utrecht. Our group is interdisciplinary with collaboration of researchers from epidemiology, neurosciences, radiology, neurology, psychiatry, geriatric medicine, rehabilitation medicine, physical therapy, ethics, and pharmacy.

Topics and methods

Delirium – Encephalopathy – Postoperative Cognitive Dysfunction - Outcome after anesthesia-surgery – End-of-life decision making – Post-Intensive Care Syndrome

Methods: Epidemiology – Functional and Structural Imaging – EEG

About

‘Brain at Risk’ focusses on delirium and long-term (neuropsychiatric) outcome after anesthesia-surgery and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) admission. Our research group is internationally well-recognized and the leading group in Europe on delirium in ICU patients.
